Our core business has always been Race transporters producing approximately 25 units a year, we also manufacture Horseboxes by request as our family has a long standing relationship with hunting, team chasing and also point to pointing.

Since 2014 we have diversified into the manufacture of Hospitality and Exhibition units. This initiated from Race teams requiring hospitality units in the paddock to entertain guests.  We now supply hospitality units to wide range of Race team and also event companies touring the Uk and Europe with road shows and also trade, sporting and country fairs.

Skills

We have a complete range of skilled employees working in house including: Aluminium and stainless steel tig welders, carpenters, joiners, auto electricians, electricians, fibre glass pattern makers, painters and general coach builders.  The above skill set allows us to build fast and efficiently they also enable us to produce various other items not vehicle related to suit your requirements.

Hopkins Motorsport Ltd is family owned business with a long history within motorsport.

In February 2021 Hopkins Motorsport reached the mile stone of supplying 500 New & Used Race Transporters, by the end of 2021 the number will be near 520.

With Race transporters and hospitality units in nearly every paddock in the world we have now firmly established ourselves as one of the world leaders in supplying bespoke units.

During 2021 the expansion of the business will continue with an increase in the workshop size to allow for 3 new bays for a dedicated bay for used vehicle servicing and also new build final quality control bay.

Reg Hopkins competed in the European truck racing championship from 1985 up to 1992. Reg built his own race transporters to allow the team to carry it race truck, spares and also living accommodation for up to ten people, Reg also hunted and Team chassed until 2016.

In 1993 Reg’s eldest son Philip Started to compete in Formula Ford at the age of 17, the family initially built a 7.5tone transporter at the end of Philips 1stseason the vehicle was sold for £2,500 for the following season an 18ton Rigid was built. Philip progressed through the racing ranks competing in British Formula 3 and British GT’s each year the transporters increased in size and would be sold at the end of the season to help the funding of the next season.

When Philip graduated  with an engineering degree in 1998, Reg & Philip decided they could combine the families experience gained building race transporters during their racing careers in the past decade and use the knowledge gained from his studies to form a company to build specialist racing vehicles. They started by converting second hand trailers and rigid trucks in what was previously the race workshops on the family business park, the company grew progressively from 2 people working in a 900sq ft building in 2000 to approximately 30 people working in 20,000sqft in 2010.

Philip can be found anywhere and everywhere from the initial concept of the vehicle until its final completion.

In 2005 Philip’s younger Brother Oliver joined the family company after gaining knowledge of all areas of the business, today he can be found specialising in the electrical & hydraulic side of the company.  Oliver can also be found promoting the business competing in the British Asphalt Rally championship.
